The Old 52 Guide to Halloween

This October, celebrate Halloween in style with retro products from the Old 52 General Store. To help you out, we have prepared a list of our favorite products that we recommend to Halloween shoppers.

For the month of October, Old 52 is offering 10% off on all Avery’s “Totally Gross Sodas” and Skeleteen brand sodas. With names like Kitty Piddle and Bug Barf, the Avery’s “Totally Gross Sodas” make great Halloween party favors for children and adults alike (and don’t worry about your guests checking the ingredients list – these are actually fruit flavored sodas that taste delicious!). The Skeleteen sodas offer fun, spooky labels and flavors such as the quite sour Black Lemonade and the spicy Red Brain Wash made with real jalapeno oil.

In addition to those included in our sale, we also recommend the following sodas:

Looks Like Orange But Tastes Like Grape – a trick soda that is also a treat
Zuberfizz Coco Fizz – chocolate soda that tastes like liquid Tootsie Rolls
Jack Black’s Blue Cream Soda – the pirate label just reminds us of Halloween fun
Flathead Lake Sour Cherry – a soda company named after a monster?! Sounds scary to us

Although December usually brings about more focus on toys than October does, we think toys can be used to dress-up costumes in fun ways. Our suggestions include:
Potato Gun or Rubber Band Shooter – perfect for cowboy and policeman costumes
Self-Adhesive Mustaches – no male movie star look is complete without one; also makes for an extra-tough looking cowboy
Sheriff’s Badge – the perfect badge for a Potato Gun wielding hero

You can also put the trick in trick-or-treat with inexpensive Whoopee Cushions.

Everyone knows that candy and Halloween go together, but these products offer a retro twist that will have you celebrating Old 52 style.

Candy for Trick-or-Treaters:
Atomic Fire Balls, Bit-O-Honey, Chick-O-Stick Nuggets, and other penny candy favorites are sure to please your trick-or-treaters this year. Other inexpensive options include Ferarra Pan boxed candy: for just 25¢ a box you can offer your trick-or-treaters their pick of Appleheads, Grapeheads, Lemonheads, Orangeheads, or Red Hots.

Candy to Coordinate with Costumes:
Don’t forget to buy some candy to go with your costume! There is no sweeter way to complete your look than with these edible props:

Big League Chew – for the young ballplayer who wants to keep his jaw busy
Candy Necklaces – a tasty accessory for princesses and Hollywood starlets
Licorice Pipe – finish off the look you started with the Self-Adhesive Mustaches
Mr. Stache Wax Mustache – an edible alternative for cowboys and tough guys too young to grow their own
Sweet Soaker – a water gun loaded with candy balls will keep aspiring law enforcers happy
Wax Lips – a simple disguise sure to garner laughs at the office

Candy for Parties:
Halloween parties are not complete without an array of spooky snacks, and we have some suggestions to satisfy your guests:

Creepy Crawlers – chewy centipedes that will look great circled around a punch bowl or snack tray
Cricket Lick-It Suckers – How many licks does it take to get to the …cricket?! Contains a real cricket that is sure to gross-out some and prompt an onslaught of dares for the guests at your event brave enough to try it.

With any of these products, you’re sure to have a Halloween celebration that won’t soon be forgotten!
